What is a general contractor?
A general contractor is a professional who oversees all phases of a construction project, including scheduling, supervision, and payment.  What separates Gaynor Restorations from most general contractors is that as little work as possible is subcontracted out, and only to companies we know and trust.  Where most contactors might handle carpentry or construction and hire separate companies to finish a multitude of jobs such as plumbing, painting, or electrical wiring, Gaynor Restorations can, and usually will handle every facet of a project from start to finish.  If for some reason a sub contractor is hired, it will always be a company Gaynor Restorations has selected as being of the highest quality and exacting standards.

What should I look for in a general contractor?
The most important thing to look for when hiring a general contractor is reputation for quality and work experience.  The contractor offering the best price on your home project isn't always the best choice, as people often lose on quality and professionalism where they save on money

  • Gaynor Restorations has been in the business for nearly a quarter century
  • Everything we do is guaranteed for 10 years
  • We use the highest quality products available
  • We subcontract as little as possible, meaning you are assured on quality with any job we perform
  • Your satisfaction is guaranteed

We primarily service  Fairfield County, with most of our business being in Wilton, Westport, and Ridgefield.  We have also worked in Brookfield, Newtown, Redding, and Bethel, and would consider any job in Fairfield County.

What is a small job?  What is too small?
Though jobs vary in scale, we treat every job with equal importance.  Similarly, on a measure of scale, there is no job that is too small for us.

I see you do additions- do you build houses also?
We do build houses, and have built several houses in the past years.  We can also build modular homes.

I see you have plumbers on staff.  Can I call you if my sink is leaking?

You may absolutely call us if your sink is leaking.  We handle all phases of home improvement, and have the knowledge to fix, repair, replace, and design anything in your home.

What do you charge for...

Being a complete contractor, we believe that all jobs are unique and therefore need a specific estimate to assess a project fairly.

I've had a bad experience with a home improvement project...

Think of that experience as a thing of the past.  Striving for complete customer satisfaction means just that.  You will not be
    disappointed.

Are you that guy on TV?

Though he is both charming and handsome, John is not who you may have sen on TV.  Instead of television advertisements,
we rely almost solely on the solid reputation we have built over years in the business.

            Do you do kitchen re-modeling?

We absolutely do kitchen re-modeling.  In fact, a significant portion of all jobs we perform involve remodeling kitchens.

I need dock repairs where I moor my boat- do you do that?

We have the knowledge and skill to repair just about anything.  We recognize that a dock is also part of your assets, and have the ability to repair or rebuild one if need be.

Do you power-wash a house before you paint it?

We do powerwash a house before we paint it.  This is an important step- as it ensures a great looking, even coat of paint on the house while at the same time adding longevity to the life of the paint.  Power-washing is important to the quality of a painting job.

Do you use college kids as workers?

Unfortunataly we do not use any college kids as workers.  With our dedication to quality, a college student cannot perform the
duties we demand of a skilled craftsman.

What if I want to make a change halfway through a project?

We would be happy to sit down with you and re-design the project with your new interests in mind.  The customer comes first.

Suppose I don't like the color-even if I picked it out?

This sometimes happens, and we understand it.   There are few things more important to people than a comfortable and inviting home, and we believe that homeowners have the right to be picky about what they want.  If a customer doesn't like the color of a paint, we have no problem changing the color to give them exactly what they want.
